Tip

Did you know there are lots of ways to train your pet where to urinate?
The first thing that is important is showing your pup the location you would like them to go to. For example, would it be near the back tree in your yard or the side of the house? Is it anywhere in the backyard? Showing your puppy the right area is helpful for them to understand.
Positive reinforcement for puppies is important. For example, what I mean by that is…
- You could say things like “Good dog” or “Good girl”
- Dogs love it when you pat them on the head or rub their belly or scratch them behind their ears.
- Reward your dog with a treat for good behavior
How to Potty Train a Puppy
Another very important requirement is having a puppy potty training schedule. This could be after they are taken out of their crate, after meals, before bed, etc.
However, having a consistent potty training schedule is very important in the success of teaching your puppy.

Another tip or hack is to have a routine of time frames that your dog eats. For example, if dinner is at 5:00 p.m. try and make that a consistently scheduled time for them to eat. Don’t allow them to eat and drink whenever they want. This will help with house training your pet!
If you want a schedule to begin with a great place to look for one of those is here! You start your time at 2 am (but only for a few days with little pups!) and the happy puppy site gives you a free look at the schedule they use for their doggies!
When do I bring my new puppy out to the bathroom? It’s important to take your dog out after eating, playing, and sleeping.
Also, important to keep in mind. Never punish your dog for having an accident. Again, positive reenforcement always!
